THE annual quiz to raise money for the Accrington and District Blind Society has been set for Tuesday 14 October.

The winning team will hold the handsome Observer Trophy for a year as well as taking a £50 cash prize.

The event, sponsored by Accrington Lions, will be held at the Brooks Club on Infant Street, Accrington, from 8pm.

The quizmaster will again be Gerald Jackson of BBC Radio Lancashire.

The entry fee for teams of up to four members is £10 and application forms can be obtained from the blind centre at 34 Bank Street, Accrington, tel 233332. Closing date is Friday 10 October.

There are also cash prizes for teams finishing second and third while losing teams are entered into a prize draw.

The society’s general secretary Sarah Turner said: “Last year we really appreciated all the winning teams’ generosity in returning their prize money to us but we want to make it clear that no winner is under that obligation and we expect you to keep your hard-earned prizes.”
