Drivers are up in arms after a popular through road has been blocked for days after rubbish was dumped this week.

Clinkham Road in Great Harwood connects Blackburn Old Road and Edge End and also provides access to several farms and houses.

Lynn Wilson, of Edge End, said the rubbish was dumped sometime overnight between Tuesday, September 22 and Wednesday, September 23.

She said: “It looks like a flat bed lorry has just unloaded and it’s blocked the whole road. You can’t even get a horse through it as there is that much of it.

“This is happening far too often and CCTV needs to be put up there to catch the people responsible.”

Resident John Duckworth said: “I go up there every morning and it wasn’t there on Tuesday. It’s obviously been tipped off a wagon and it’s a large quantity.

“I have reported it to the council and Lancashire County Council as it’s a public highway and right of way.

“There are vehicles coming down and are having to turn round and go back.”
