Former Accrington Observer snapper Garth Dawson celebrated his 90th birthday with family and friends.

Garth, of Queens Road West, Accrington, was joined by wife of 65 years Dorothy for a party at their daughter Barbara Milne’s house in Colne.

The party last Sunday was attended by around 25 friends and relatives, including Garth’s baby great-grandson.

He said: “It was a beautiful day and we could have it outside which was nice.”

Mrs Milne said it was a ‘wonderful day’. She said: “Garth was taking a lot of photos on the day and got lots of lenses and printer inks as presents. He also got a cake with a photographer made out of icing and it was on top of a Canon camera also made of icing.”
