Hapton OAP driver, 89, who crashed into tree dies

A pensioner who crashed into a lamp-post after having a suspected seizure while driving has died.

Edward Rogers, 89, from Hapton, fell ill at the wheel while driving on Blackburn Road in Acre near Haslingden at around 1.45pm on October 17.

He was treated at the scene for around three hours before being taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital where he passed away.

Police are appealing for witnesses to determine the exact circumstances of the crash which occurred near the entrance to Carter Place.

Mr Rogers was driving a blue Citroen C4.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to call police on 101.
