RESIDENTS rallied to help a woman who found her boyfriend hanged in his flat but could do nothing to save him.
Paramedics rushed to the home of Ian Wilkinson in York Close, Clayton-le-Moors, on Tuesday after his partner Donna Ashcroft went round to visit him. Roy and Sylvia Taylor, who live downstairs in the block of flats, heard her scream for help and rushed upstairs at around 4.30pm.
Police also attended but despite desperate attempts to revive him, Mr Wilkinson, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
Police confirmed they were satisfied there were no suspicious circumstances. The coroner had been informed and a post-mortem held.
Resident Val Cherry said: "Ian was a quiet lad who kept himself to himself really. He would say hello to me if I saw him. I hardly saw him as I think he stayed with his girlfriend quite a bit."
Mr and Mrs Taylor were too upset to comment on the incident and the Observer was unable to trace any of his relatives.
