Police are appealing for information about a man who is wanted on prison recall.

They also want to question Stephen Robinson in connection with an attempted armed robbery at a shop in Clayton-le-Moors.

Robinson, 28, has been recalled to prison after having failed to comply with the conditions of his prison licence.

He was originally jailed for two years for possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply having been convicted and sentenced at Burnley Crown Court in September 2008. He has failed to comply with the terms of his licence and has been recalled to serve the remainder of his sentence.

Robinson is also wanted for questioning in relation to a robbery which took place at the Londis News Extra shop, in Barnes Road, Clayton-le-Moors in May last year.

Jason McCash, 27, of Springhill Road, Accrington, was jailed for five years at Preston Crown Court this week after he had admitted driving two cars in the attempted robbery of the Londis shop.

Robinson has previously lived in the Oswaldtwistle area. It is believed that he could still be in the east Lancashire area.

He is from Burnley and is described as being around 5 feet 9 with blue eyes and a local accent. He also has a scar on his right forearm.

Inspector John Clucas said: "We would ask the public to be vigilant and report any sightings to the police - any details could be crucial."
