The two winners of the Accrinton Baby of the Year competition can finally be announced.

For the past six months hundreds of votes have been cast as we try to find out Hyndburn’s bonniest boy and girl.

Little Hannah Nicole Harrison has been named as the Accrington Observer Baby Girl of the Year.

Cute tot Hannah, who is now 16 months old, lives with her delighted parents Kirsten Hartley, 18, and Jonathan Harrison, 21, on Stanley Street in Accrington.

Kirsten said: "I am so pleased and very proud.

"We obviously knew that she was beautiful but it is nice that she has won the competition.

"We are so happy. It was her nan who saw the competition in the paper and suggested that we enter her, and we thought she is bonnie enough so we will give it a go.

"We will keep the pictures and articles to show her when she is older.

"And we may even enter her into more competitions now."

Adorable Rhys Daniel Mallen is the winner of the boys section of our fantastic Accrington Observer Baby of the Year competition 2010.

Rhys, who celebrated his second birthday on Wednesday (September 22), lives with his parents Andrea Leeming and Daniel Mallen, on Exchange Street, Accrington.

Delighted Andrea said: "It is brilliant. We are shocked, but really pleased he won.

"We only really put him in at the last moment.

"There were a lot of other children in the competition I knew as they are children of friends, so he definitely had some competition.

"He is really funny, cheeky and mischievous and he is into everything.

"He is really quite old for his age and is very clever.

"He is a real little boy, into his machines and cars and we are so pleased he has won."

Andrea, 23, works at Oswaldtwistle Mills, while Daniel, 24, is a maintenance engineer.

The competition was run in partnership with The Garth Dawson Studio in Accrington.

Both winners have each won a portrait at the studio worth £350.
