THE inquest on tragic tot Toby Woods will finally go ahead later this year - five years after his death.
Proceedings had been scheduled to start on Monday 19 January but the inquest was sensationally adjourned at the last minute, after it was announced that Toby's mother Donna Hanson was ill.
A two-week inquest in front of a jury has now been scheduled to start at Clitheroe Town Hall on Monday 13 September.
About 40 witnesses have been called to appear and Ms Hanson will take the stand.
But the controversial "expert" in unexplained cot deaths, Professor Sir Roy Meadow, who had been called to give evidence at the original inquest, will not be among medical experts appearing.
Three-month-old Toby died in September 1999 - less than a year after the death of his 10-month-old brother Ashley.
A police probe into the boys' deaths was launched and Ms Hanson was arrested in January 2000.
But after a long-running investigation police finally announced in August last year that they had decided not to bring charges against her.
The inquest into Toby's death has been adjourned several times since December 1999 and it is hoped that the five-year case will now be brought to an end.
