A keyboard ‘marathon man’ was the main attraction at Rishton Methodist Church’s annual Spring Fair.

Alan Amos started playing two hours before the fair opened and continued for five hours.

More than 100 people attended the event.

Ian Kitchin, church treasurer, said Alan was sponsored by the hour, estimating how many tunes would be played and bursting a balloon.

He said: “The balloons contained a tune name which Alan then played.

“Margaret Melling had the nearest estimate of the tunes played; 190, three short of the amazing 193.

“We had a really good day.”

Mr Kitchin added: “The fair raised over £1,000 and that will keep us in gas for a year.

“Money was not the only thing, we had some really attractive goods on sale, the cafe was kept busy and there was a buzz about the place.

“All this accompanied by the music of Alan and at one time the youngsters were dancing.”

The fair was held on Saturday, March 21.
