Thousands of food lovers are set to come to the Dunkenhalgh Hotel when it plays host to the Lancashire Christmas Market.

The event, which is the largest indoor Christmas market in the north-west will be the largest Christmas market in Lancashire.

It will feature around 60 stalls, split between an area for food and drink and another for crafts and gifts.

There will also be a visit from Santa and his elves for children to visit and a performance from a brass band.

One of the organisers, Matthew Williamson said: "I am really pleased to be putting this event on in Hyndburn, giving people a real quality alternative to the big-city markets in places like Manchester.

"While we have stalls coming from every corner of Lancashire, around half of our stalls are from the Accrington and Blackburn area, and we were amazed to see just how many fantastic producers out there right on our doorstep.

"This is going to be a huge event, with stall holders coming from across the county and we are expecting a couple of thousand visitors on the day."

The hall will be filled with colourful items to tempt Christmas shoppers including a hog roast, mulled wine, cider, paella, chocolate, cupcakes, cheeses, beer, jams and chutneys.

It is the first time the organisation has held a Christmas fair. They have previously held craft fairs at the Clayton-le-Moors hotel. In the craft section there will be traditional wreaths, toys, hand-made cards and decorations, jewellery, clocks and beauty products, and Christmas trees. There will also be activities including face-painting.

The event runs on Sunday, December 4, from 10am to 5pm, admission is £2 on the door and free for the under-12s
