Liverpool FC manager Brendan Rodgers has had a conviction against him relating to a property in Accrington overturned.

He was taken to court by Hyndburn council in December 2013 over the state of a property he co-owned with his business partner on Edmund Street.

Rodgers, and Judith O’Hagan, then of Ballyscullion Road in Toomebridge, Northern Ireland, were found guilty in their absence at Blackburn Magistrates Court of non-compliance with a notice served under Section 79 of the Building Act 1984.

The pair were fined £400 and ordered to pay £375 costs to the council, and ordered to install new windows, doors and roof and remove all rubbish.

Mark Hoyle, head of regeneration and housing at Hyndburn council, said: “Brendan Rodgers and Judith O’Hagan were convicted in their absence of failing to comply with a notice served on them by the council. However, the case against them both was overturned under section 14 Magistrates Courts Act 1980 at Blackburn Magistrates Court on April 28, 2014, in the case of Brendan Rodgers, and on July 9, 2014 in Miss O’Hagan’s case, as neither Mr Rodgers or Miss O’Hagan received the court summons.”
