THE Conservatives have held onto power of Hyndburn Council.

A victory in Huncoat by ex-Labour man Dave Parkins was crucial in denying his former party a foothold, giving Peter Britcliffe's Tories the same one-seat majority they held before the election.

They now hold 18 of the borough's seats, Labour 15 and independent councillors two.
