A FAMILY were left devastated after their son died when he fell down a quarry.
James Riley, who was 24, died on Sunday night in Lancaster Royal Infirmary. His grieving parents Stephen and Karen, of Plantation Road, Accrington, were too upset to speak about the tragedy this week.
James was found at the foot of the quarry at Ingleton, North Yorkshire, by a passer-by who raised the alarm at around 8.30pm. He was rushed to hospital by paramedics but died two hours later.
His family had reported him missing earlier on Sunday evening after they became concerned about his welfare.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "At 8.30pm on Sunday a man rang to say his daughter had found a man at the bottom of the quarry near Ingleton. He was taken to Lancaster Royal Infirmary where he died at 10.20pm the same evening.
"The Coroner has been informed of the death, which is not being treated as suspicious."
James is also believed to leave a sister.
