A man armed with a meat cleaver who climbed onto a pub roof making threats to police has been recalled to prison.

Police said they were called to Northgate in Blackburn town centre after the 28-year-old from Accrington climbed onto the Baroque pub.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said the man, who was wanted on recall to prison, was threatening to jump and attack anyone who would come near him and negotiators were sent to the scene.

The incident started at around 9.40pm on yesterday (Thursday, January 21) and the man came down at 2.35am on Friday, January 22.
