A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, following a fire in Accrington.

Phillip Kenrick, his partner and her 21-month-old daughter were asleep upstairs at a property on Lodge Street on Saturday, August 30 when at around 7am, a rear window was smashed and fuel canister attached to a lit rag was thrown inside.

The occupants woke up and managed to extinguish the flame before the fuel ignited.

A 33-year-old man from Accrington has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He has been bailed pending further enquiries until November 25.
