A MAN has been arrested on on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Accrington.

Detectives are say they are investigating the 'unexplained' death after being called to an address on Richmond Street at around 7.50am on Sunday by the Ambulance Service.

They say a 35-year-old woman was found dead inside.

A police spokesman said: "The death is being treated as unexplained and we are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death."

A 36-year-old local man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and has been bailed pending further enquiries until December 14.

One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: "I first noticed something in the morning. There were lots of police here and people in white suits.
"There is quite a high turnover of people at the house."

Another neighbour said: "I came back home yesterday and there was all this police here.
"I didn't know what was going on.

"There has been a police car parked outside ever since and there was another further up the road but that's now gone.
"I don't know who has died. I think they've only moved in recently."
