A man suffered a broken leg after colliding with a car in Accrington town centre over the weekend.

Police said the 27-year-old had just left the Railway Pub and was on Eagle Street when the collision occurred.

PC Peter Wright said the man, from Oswaldtwistle, was treated in hospital following the incident at around 10pm on Saturday, February 16.

He added: "The collision involved a 27-year-old male who was crossing Eagle Street and a silver Peugeot. The driver initially failed to stop but we are interviewing the driver about what happened. The investigation is on-going.

"If someone is involved in a car accident you should always stop and exchange details. Or if you can't do that wait for police arrival. And if that isn't possible you can report any incident to police within 24 hours or as soon as is practicable."
