A 41-year-old man suffered extensive head injuries after being attacked at a bar in Accrington.

Detective Inspector Claire Holbrook said the victim was on a night out with friends when an incident occurred after 1am on Saturday at Bailey's Bar in Church Street.

DI Holbrook of Accrington CID said: "The 41-year-old victim was stood at the bar when there was a violent altercation. In the attack he has suffered quite extensive injuries including a double fractured left eye socket, a fractured cheek bone, a fracture to the base of his skull and a small bleed to his brain."

The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition.

25-year-old Andrew Bradshaw, of Sharples Street, Accrington has been charged with wounding and assault and will appear before Blackburn Magistrates on Monday, December 20.
