Police are appealing for information after a man indecently exposed himself to a woman in Accrington

Police are appealing for information after a man indecently exposed himself to a woman in Accrington.

A woman in her 30s was walking along the rear alleyways of Exchange Street and Elizabeth Street at the junction of Pickup Street when she came across a man who was performing a sex act.

Despite the fact that the man was aware of the woman’s presence he failed to stop until she pulled her mobile phone out, at which point he ran off.

PC Neil Pugh said the incident happened at around 6.20pm on Friday, January 4.

He said: “This was a very distressing incident for the woman involved and I would appeal to anyone who has any information about it to contact police.

“We believe there were other people in the area at the time who may have seen this man, please come forward if you think you can assist us.”

The man is described as white, aged in his early 20s, of slim build and was wearing a dark tracksuit top and bottoms with the hood up.

Anybody with any information can contact police on 101.
