AN ACCRINGTON man is being questioned about a hit and run which left a 24-year-old man seriously injured.

The incident happened at 10pm on Wednesday on Haslingden Road, Blackburn, near the Soccer Dome, when the pedestrian was in collision with a car which failed to stop.

A red Citroen Saxo was later found burned out at a picnic site on Haslingden Old Road, Oswaldtwistle.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in Accrington at 11.30pm and was being quizzed by police as the Observer went to press.

The pedestrian, who is from Blackburn, was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital before being transferred to Fazakerly hospital, Liverpool.
