Police have launched an investigation into “suspicious circumstances” after a man was assaulted by a gang outside a takeaway and then driven away.

A member of the public reported a man being attacked outside The Royal Phoenix on Union Road in Oswaldtwistle by a group of men.

Police said the victim then got into a car, possibly a silver Audi or Mercedes, with the group before being driven away.

The incident happened at around 10.45pm on Monday, January 4 and the men are described as Asian and aged in their 20s.

Det Con Jenny Berry, of Blackburn CID, said: “At this stage police are still seeking to identify the male who was assaulted and are appealing for him to make contact with us.

“Detectives are also asking for anyone who witnessed the incident to call us immediately.”
