An image of a man who indecently exposed himself to a woman while she was out walking her dog in Clayton Le Moors has been released by police.

The 66-year-old victim was walking along her regular route on the tow path of the Leeds-Liverpool canal at 3.15pm on Monday, November 12, when the incident took place.

She was close to Atlas Street, where the canal passes beneath the M65 motorway and Blackburn Road when the offender approached the her and asked if she had a cigarette.

The victim told police that he was articulate and polite but that he later exposed himself.

After she walked away the offender then set off towards Altham.

PC Peter Norris from Hyndburn Police is appealing for people with information to come forward.

He said: “The path was reasonably busy with walkers so I would appeal to anyone in the area at the time or with information regarding the offender to make contact with Accrington police by calling 101.”

The offender is described as a white man aged around 20 years old. He is approximately 5ft 6inches tall and average build.

He has dark hair with a long fringe over his forehead and was wearing white trainers, grey tracksuit bottoms and a red t-shirt under a dark 'North Face' jacket.
