A mother and baby had a ‘lucky escape’ after a tumble dryer caught fire in their house.

Two fire crews from Hyndburn were called to Thwaites Street in Oswaldtwistle at around 1.45pm on Monday, April 4. The pair were taken to hospital by ambulance for precautionary checks.

A Hyndburn fire station spokesperson said: “Luckily she had working smoke alarms installed which alerted her to the blaze and allowed her to get herself and her child to safety.”
