Two renowned musicians are due to appear in Accrington for a special show.

Enfield Cricket Club is all set to host an exciting evening of old-time fiddle and banjo music this August, when American/Canadian duo Matt Gordon and Leonard Podolak are welcomed to the club on Saturday August 9.

Last seen in the UK supporting folk superstars Show of Hands, Matt and Leonard delighted audiences across the country with their unique mix of banjo, fiddle, clogging and hamboning.

A critically acclaimed, five-string claw-hammer banjo player, Leonard has been a full time touring musician for the last 17 years.

He was first a member of the band Scruj MacDuhk and then the Juno/Grammy award winning The Duhks.

Matt, an impressive fiddler, harmonica player and dancer, toured extensively in the 80s and 90s with The Fiddle Puppet Dancers.

He also took part in the London debut of Riverdance.

Organiser Samantha Hand said it is expected to be an exciting gig.

She said: “As a duo, they bring exceptional musical talent as well as an exciting performance, guaranteed to bring a smile to the faces of their audience members.

“They are unique, they are entertaining and they are very special.

“This is an event not to be missed.

“They are in England for a handful of festival performances and this is their only date in the north of England. So catch them while you can.”
