NEW mum Berni Magee started the New Year with an extra special gift – a beautiful baby girl she has named Amber Emily.

Following a straightforward delivery little Amber arrived at 12.25am on New Year’s Day – her due date – at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, weighing in at 6lb 10oz.

Berni, 28, who used to work as a lifeguard at Femme Fitness on Mill Street, Great Harwood, is delighted at becoming a mum.

She said: “I went in for a routine check up and the pains started getting worse. I was admitted to hospital on the Tuesday and Amber was born on Thursday. She’s gorgeous. She’s a really quiet baby and only cries when she wants feeding.” 

ALSO celebrating on new Years Day were Cindy Ridsdale, 18, and Dave Crook, 18. They were delighted with the birth of their daughter who arrived safe and sound.

Following a difficult delivery little Emily Jayne Crook arrived at 10am at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, weighing in at 7lb 11oz..

Emily was due on 22 December and mum Cindy, 18, was admitted to hospital last Monday with her labour being induced.

The couple live in Meadoway, Church, with Emily’s proud grandparents Tracy and Wayne Ridsdale.
