HE MAY have been thousands of miles away in the Middle East but that didn't stop Dieter Seager celebrating his closest friends' wedding.

Dieter, of Washington Street, Accrington, was in Jordan earlier this week as part of his work with Operation Human Shield, a peace mission to protect innocent civilians if war breaks out in Iraq.

But the 28-year-old didn't forget his friends back home - and when two of them got married in Whalley, he e-mailed the happy couple a photograph of himself joining in the celebrations.

The picture shows Dieter holding a clock set at 5pm Jordanian time - the exact moment that Tim Jackson and Jane Berry tied the knot at Mitton Hall Country House Hotel near Whalley.

The newlyweds, who live in Blackburn, last saw Dieter during a get-together with friends and family a week before he flew out to Jordan, although they have spoken to him by telephone since then.
