A nursery is also celebrating after improving its Ofsted rating to good.

Inspectors visited Little Brook Children’s Nursery, on Blackburn Road, Great Harwood and delivered an improved rating from the ‘satisfactory’ result achieved in 2011.

Inspector Donna Birch praised the children’s progress and the staff’s good understanding of the children and relationship with parents.

In her report she said: “Staff know the children well and plan a range of interesting play opportunities and activities to support next steps in their learning.

“As a result, children make good progress in their learning and development in relation to their starting points.

“Children thrive in this warm and welcoming setting through the kind and caring nature shown by their key persons.

“As a result, children feel emotionally safe and secure and display high levels of confidence and self-esteem.”

Co-owner and manager Dawn Hartley said they were ‘absolutely thrilled’ with the inspection.

She said: “We have got a great team of girls that work really hard and myself and my husband make sure it’s known highly throughout the area. Thankfully Ofsted have recognised this.”
