A couple of cruise enthusiasts are celebrating 60 years of marriage.

John and Jean Watson, from Blackburn Road in Oswaldtwistle, marked their Diamond Wedding anniversary on June 11 with family and friends and received a card from the Queen congratulating them on their landmark wedding anniversary.

The couple met at Joe Mortimer’s dance hall in Accrington and were married at Church Kirk Church in Church in 1955 and held their wedding reception at the Queen’s Hotel in Church.

John, 79 and Jean, 78, lived in Church and Accrington before settling in West End in Oswaldtwistle, where they have lived for the last 41 years.

They have five children, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Since retiring, John and Jean have spent their leisure time cruising all over the world.

The pair are also members at Immanuel Bowling Club have played Crown Green Bowling for more than 15 years.

John said he had no secrets to offer on his long, happy marriage.

He said: “I don’t know really, I don’t have any advice.

“You just work at it, you have your good times and your bad times.”
