A DRIVER had to be cut from her car after it overturned on a busy town centre roundabout during the morning rush hour yesterday.

The accident happened at 7.35am on the viaduct roundabout, near its junction with Milnshaw Lane, Accrington. Two fire crews were called to the scene along with police officers and paramedics. The 38-year-old Accrington woman was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital with minor injuries

PC Mark Royle-Evatt said at the scene: "The people in the car behind her saw exactly what happened. There was a big screw in one of the rear tyres which appears to have deflated the wheel or caused it to blow and the driver lost control."
