THE brother of suspected murder victim David Guilfoyle this week said his disappearance was too painful to talk about.

Speaking from his home in Towngate, Great Harwood, devastated Jimmy Guilfoyle, 50, appealed for help in solving the mystery but added: "It's really a very difficult time and I'm finding it hard to talk about it. It's too painful. I've told my ex-wife Carole she can speak on my behalf."

But after initially seeming keen to speak to the press Mrs Guilfoyle, 44, who used to run the Merrie England pub in St Hubert's Road, Great Harwood, changed her mind at the last minute.

Mrs Guilfoyle, of Noble Street, Great Harwood, said she had been advised by the police not to give an interview because "it would not help the investigation".

She said "I am prepared to go along with it for the time being. I do believe they are taking the inquiry very seriously."
