A 67-year-old woman was ‘seriously injured’ following a collision in Accrington.

Police said the collision happened on Blackburn Road, Accrington near to the Co-operative pharmacy.

It is thought she was involved in a collision with a blue Ford Focus that was travelling in the direction of Accrington.

The woman sustained a fractured spine, hip, broken shoulder and elbow and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where she remains and is said to be recovering well.

The 39-year-old driver was reported for driving without due care and attention and will attend a driving awareness course.

PC Mike Smith, of the Road Policing Unit, said: “The pedestrian was seriously injured in the collision but is fortunately making a good recovery in hospital.

“I would appeal to anyone who either witnessed the incident or was in the vicinity at the time to come forward.”

It happened at around 12.20pm on Monday, June 1.
