Police have launched an appeal after a 72-year-old man was targeted by burglars.

The incident happened sometime between 5.15pm and 7.45pm on Sunday, January 11 at his home on Ashworth Street, Accrington.

The offender broke into the terraced house by smashing a window at the back of the property.

A black Compaq laptop computer, a distinctive gold pocket watch and a football medal were taken.

The Waltham pocket watch is described as gold plated, with the glass face cover missing and a double Albert chain.

The watch also has a football medal attached to it in the name of F.R.Ratcliffe.

PC Paul Melia, of Blackburn Police, said: “We are keen to trace these items, particularly the pocket watch that has great sentimental value for the owner, and find the person responsible for this crime.”
