Families packed into Oswaldtwistle Mills on Saturday for a family fun day supporting their local scout group.

The event, organised by the 1st Oswaldtwistle St Paul’s Scout Group, included an appearance by celebrity guest Ted Robbins.

Activities available on the day included laser quest, archery, fire lighting, a chainsaw sculptor, laser quest, a bouncy castle and face painting.

The free event also included stalls from the Accrington Pals group and demonstrations from the Air Ambulance, Sea Cadets, Wild Aid UK and Incredible Edibles.

Stephen Lowe, of the Scout group, said the fun day was their most successful event to date.

He said: “It was the best ever event that we’ve organised, we managed to raise about £1,700.

“The sun stayed out for the majority of the day and people responded and came in their hundreds.

“We were busy from the event opened until we finished, and everyone young and old enjoyed the appearance by Ted Robbins. We’d like to thank Oswaldtwistle Mills and Scott Dawson Advertising for all their support. The money raised will be used to improve our facilities.”
