THEATRE-goers are in for a treat when Oswaldtwistle Players present their next show, “Mary Burton”.

The production, written by Elizabeth Gaskell and adapted by Rona Munro, was premiered at the Royal Exchange, Manchester, in 2006.

The play will be performed from Wednesday 22 to Saturday 25 October at the civic theatre and the first read-through is to be held next Thursday at Lock Street club, Oswaldtwistle, from 7pm. All members and non-members are welcome.

Director Hannah Kidd said: “Mary Barton is a thrilling drama of a young woman working in a northern mill town in the 1850s.

“During the play she encounters romance, poverty and hunger, murder and an immense struggle to free the man she loves from being hung.

“Come and join us at the read-through. We need people of all ages to bring this fabulous story to life.”
