Police armed with chainsaws have found ‘large quantities’ of drugs during a house raid.

Officers from the Central and Springhill Neighbourhood Police Team executed a warrant at a house on Hopwood Street in Accrington at around 11am on Thursday, March 10.

A Hyndburn Police spokesperson said: “A large quantity of what is believed to be amphetamine, and also quantities of cannabis were seized from the address.

“Officers from the support unit attended and used a chainsaw on the front door in order to gain entry.”

Police said a 21-year-old man from Accrington has been arrested on suspicion of possessing amphetamine with intent to supply.

A 26-year-old man from Keighley was also arrested on suspicion of possessing heroin with intent to supply.

Both men have been bailed until June 3 for further enquiries to be made.
