A Rishton man is among two men to be jailed after police found them in possession of three stolen shotguns.

Simon Day, of Walmsley Street, Rishton and Shahid Farid, 33, were arrested in September last year following an undercover investigation. On their arrest, the pair were found to have three shotguns with them, which had been stolen during a burglary in Brindle.

Appearing at Preston Crown Court on Monday Day, 42, was jailed for three years and four months for possessing shotguns.

Farid, of Zion Road, Blackburn was jailed for five years for possessing shotguns and possession with intent to supply cocaine.

Speaking after the sentencing, Detective Inspector Pete Simm, Lancashire Constabulary, said: "I am satisfied with the outcome. Our investigations clearly showed that Day and Farid were engaged in serious criminal activity and that these guns could potentially have been used to further this activity."
