A sandwich shop became smoke logged after a pan with food was left on the cooker.

Firefighters from Hyndburn were called to investigate a smoke alarm at Gill’s Sandwich Shop on High Street in Rishton at around 2.15am on Wednesday, June 24.

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the food in the pan had been ‘boiled dry’ but didn’t catch fire.

They used a ventilation unit to clear the smoke from the shop. No injuries were reported.
