RHYDDINGS High School in Oswaldtwistle is set to work alongside residents in a bid to turn The Heys playing field into a community recreation area.

Although the school currently pays for the maintenance of the field, it does not use it for school sports events and residents recently feared the land would be used for housing.

A meeting between the ward councillor and school head has prompted calls for a partnership between Rhyddings, residents associations and sports organisations in order to create a community facility on the site.
