The 16-year-old student at Accrington Academy had always been very proud of her hair which was long enough for her to sit on.

He mum Michelle said: “She has said that her hair is her best feature. Even with this in mind she wanted other people to benefit from her hair.

“Little Princess Trust make human hair wigs, free of charge, for young boys and girls affected by cancer or other illnesses.

“Everyone is so proud of her and telling her what a great job she has done and how inspirational she is at her age to give away a part of her that she loves.”

Michelle said that her daughter was also trying to raise funds for the charity so they would be able to make more wigs.

She added: “Each wig costs in the region of £300 to make.

“We created a Just Giving page so any money donated can go straight to the charity www.justgiving.com/Saffrondidit
