Potential customers will be able to enjoy a sneak peek at a brand new £15m housing scheme transforming a once dilapidated Accrington neighbourhood.

Showhomes, which are part of the 131-family home Woodnook development, will be opened this weekend by developer PlaceFirst and joint venture partners Together.

The residential scheme is one of the largest of its kind in the UK transforming empty Victorian terraces into energy efficient two, three and four-bedroom homes for private rent.

PlaceFirst is releasing ten refurbished homes to the market this month and expect the first release of new homes from January 2015.

Martin Ellerby, head of new business and innovation at PlaceFirst, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the homes we are delivering in Woodnook, and believe they will set a new benchmark in fair value private rent.

“Along with our joint venture partners at Together Housing Group, we are not only delivering great homes, but a professional, well managed landlord service for our customers.”

As well as new and refurbished homes, a property facelift project on Nuttall Street is under way to create an attractive gateway into Woodnook and help local shops and businesses.

There are also plans for a new public square next to The Woodnook Centre.

The show homes on Hudson Street will be open to the public on Saturday, November 22 from 10am to 2pm.
