A GRIEVING wife has told how she gave birth to her husband's third baby just four months after he was stabbed to death by his ex-mistress.

Shaista Jabeen sobbed and cradled tiny Saira, three months, as she spoke at the family home in Steiner Street, Accrington.

Her husband Mohammed Nadeem, 28, was stabbed several times by 20-year-old Kelly Hyslop, with whom he had carried on a six-year affair.

Preston Crown Court heard that the stabbing took place during a "physical confrontation" in which she believed that he was going to "force himself on her sexually".

Hyslop, of Commercial Road, Great Harwood, denied murder and her guilty plea to manslaughter was accepted by the prosecution.

The court heard how the lovers' relationship had been volatile, with Mr Nadeem at times being violent towards Hyslop.

But Shaista disputed the claims, saying that her husband was a family man who was never violent at home.

She said: "We have three daughters and the eldest, four-year-old Haddiqa, just screams the whole time.

"Even in her sleep she calls for her dad and she is always asking where he is.

"He adored her and used to take her out all the time. He used to go down to London a lot and she asks if he is there."

Shaista has also been left with 18-month-old Anisa.

Gulshan Bibi, Mr Nadeem's distraught sister, added: "Kelly has not lost anything.

"It is his wife, children and family who have lost out.

"He was really happy. He was a family man and he was looking forward to the birth of his next baby.

"He is not going to come back to us; he has gone forever, but she gets to carry on with her life."

Hyslop, who will be sentenced on 8 November, has been freed on conditional bail.

Her family declined to comment at their home in Parker Street, Huncoat, this week.
