MEET Stan the Monkey - Accrington Stanley's new mascot.
Stanley Supporters' Club has been on the hunt for a mascot since the Reds were promoted in May.
"The problem is it would cost £3,000 and we knew we wouldn't be able to raise that kind of cash," said membership secretary Alan Smith.
So Alan used his old contacts from his days as a redcoat at Butlins in North Wales in the early 1990s.
He said: "I rang the entertainments manager at the Bognor Regis camp and they sent the monkey costume through the post. We would have liked a bulldog, the usual Stanley mascot, but beggars can't be choosers."
Supporters' club chairman Malcolm Isherwood said: "I think he will add to the entertainment and atmosphere. We are a family club and it is all part of the fun."
Stan made his first appearance at Stanley's home game against Scarborough on Monday. He will definitely be at future home games but the club will need permission from the away club to take Stan on his travels.
