RISHTON muscle man Mark Felix will take on the 'Winter Giants' in an awesome exhibition of strength coming to Accrington soon.

Mighty Mark, who has finished as high as fourth in the World's Strongest Man contest, will be among of a dozen of Britain's top strongmen who will take the strain in the sell-out event at Hyndburn Leisure Centre on 13 December.

Six gruelling events ? an overhead log press, deadlift, Hercules hold, Atlas stones, farmer's walk, and loading medley ? will comprise three hours of power.

The 140kg former bodybuilder Felix, 43, will be joined by leading lights on the circuit such as Terry Hollands, Laurence Shahlaei, Jimmy Marku and Mark Westaby.

The trials will be officiated by head referee Mick Gosling ? Britain's Strongest Man in 2005.

The 400-ticket event, which has been put on with the help of local companies, is sold out but will be filmed and available on DVD.

Wife Denny, who is organising the event, said: ?Due to the quick sales on tickets we are now looking at another bigger venue in the area for next year.?

On Sunday (6 December) Felix, who has 21.5 inch biceps and 31 inch thighs, will take part in his first powerlifting competition in the GBPF North West Powerlifting Championships.

He is reportedly bidding to break the Federation's record deadlift of 837 pounds (380kg) at the Colne event.
