Three people were taken to hospital after a two-car collision in Huncoat.

Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to Burnley Road following the incident near the junction with Penny House Lane.

One woman was airlifted to hospital after being freed from one of the cars and two other men were taken to hospital by road ambulance.

A Hyndburn fire station spokesman said: “There were three people confined in the cars.

“Two male casualties were released and conveyed to hospital by road ambulance and one female casualty had to be extricated by firefighters by removing the doors and roof.

“She was then conveyed to hospital by air ambulance.”

The collision happened at around 6.30pm on Sunday, April 19.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours while police investigated the accident and removed both cars from the road.
