TWO proud Accrington men have celebrated their love of their home town — by tattooing its name across their toes.

Lee Holden, 25, of Sedbergh Close, and Chris Kenyon, 23, were in their local pub, the Adelphi, discussing all things Accrington when they came up with the crazy idea.

Chris, a forklift truck driver, who currently lives in High Street, Rishton, but hopes to move back to Accrington soon, said: "We were talking about Accy pride and how much we love the town.

"Tattoos are really addictive. Once you get one that’s it."

A mutual friend of the pair, James Phillips, who is a trainee tattoo artist, drew the tattoos in his living room.

Lee, an account manager for Ticketline, said: "I have lots of tattoos but without doubt my toes were the most painful because there is a lot of bone and not much flesh.

I am really pleased with it though. It’s the best tattoo I have. I suppose it’s just lucky that Accrington has 10 letters."
