Police in Great Harwood have been teaching people with learning difficulties about crime prevention.

Officers went into The Base on Queen Street to speak to people about community safety.

The Base encourages people with learning difficulties to take part in activities in the community.

PCSO Helena Saile said the scheme was a success.

She added: “This was a fantastic opportunity for the police to build relationships with people at The Base, giving them an insight into the work of the police whilst educating them about crime prevention and personal safety.”

Director of The Base Alan Wilkinson said around 65 people attended.

He said: “I think everyone found it very helpful and it was pitched just right for the service users we support. I even heard the staff comment that they had learnt something too.”
