‘Shameful’ vandals have been criticised for damaging a newly installed bus shelter.

It was placed at the corner of Harwood Road and Stourton Street in Rishton as part of a Pennine Reach Scheme upgrade but was vandalised within weeks.

Ward councillor Clare Cleary, who lives only a few doors away from the shelter, said: “This is pretty shameful behaviour.

“Money is being spent on improving services for Rishton and the mindless few just have to try and spoil it for everyone else.

“I have reported it and it will be repaired but that costs more money, public money, our taxes.”
