Four parties are due to contest the Spring Hill ward seat

Voters were set to go to the polls in a four-way council by-election in the Spring Hill ward on Thursday, July 9.

The candidates were Diane Fielding for Labour, Kerry Gormley for the Greens, Mohammad Safdar for the Conservatives and Ken Smith for the UK Independence Party.

Polling stations were due to be open from 7am to 10pm at Scaitcliffe Community Centre, the community centres in Fairfield Street and Moorhouse Avenue, and Mount Carmel Roman Catholic High School.
