AN OSWALDTWISTLE couple are overjoyed they can go ahead with their wedding despite the fact their reception venue has closed.

Bride-to-be Nicola Walsh, 27, was shocked when she learned the Moorcock Inn, Waddington, had shut its doors.

A message was posted on the country inn’s website stating: "Due to the current economic climate and the bank’s decision to withdraw support, the Moorcock Inn has ceased trading.

"We are seeking professional advice and will notify all relevant parties in due course."

Nicola and her fiancé, 31-year-old Stefan Walmsley, both of Havelock Street, scrambled to find a new venue for their wedding reception scheduled for 29 August.

The couple will tie the knot at St Mary’s RC Church, Oswaldtwistle.

Fortunately, the Shireburn Arms in Hurst Green was available to host the reception and the couple have snapped it up.

Nicola said: "It was so unexpected. We are just glad to have found somewhere else at such short notice. We have friends flying in from as far away as America so we needed a place for that weekend. We hope everything else will go smoothly."
