WANTED: Police want to interview this man in connection with the incident in The Commercial pub

Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted by a customer in an Accrington pub.

At around 9.30pm on Boxing Day a man who had been drinking in The Commercial pub on Church Street was refused service by the 19-year- old bar manager when she suspected he was drunk.

She walked over to explain why he was being asked to leave at which point the man slapped her twice across the face before leaving the pub.

Officers have issued a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident and are asking anyone who may recognise the man in the image to come forward.

PC Craig Kelshaw said: “This was a nasty and completely unnecessary assault and I am keen to speak to anyone who can help us trace the person responsible.”

Anyone with any information should call Lancashire Police on 101.
